CATHEDRALS EXPRESS Two trips have been run recently by ‘Steam Dreams’ using ex-GWR 4-6-0 6024 ‘King Edward I’, the first on Thursday 9th June from Victoria to Bristol, and the second on Saturday 18th June from Victoria to Gloucester. KE9 shows 6024 on the outward run to Bristol at Freshford, on the line from Westbury to Bath. KE10 shows the return train accelerating from Bathampton, near Claverton, on the same line. On the Gloucester trip, 6024 climbed the bank to Sapperton in both directions. In KE11, 6024 is photographed from the mouth of Sapperton tunnel at the summit of the climb on the outward journey. In KE12, 6024 is starting the eastbound ascent on its return from Gloucester at Thrupp, with the buildings of Stroud on the hill in the background. |
