THE PEMBROKE COAST EXPRESS Making its second trip into West Wales in a month, ex-GWR 4-6-0 6024 ‘King Edward I’ ran from Newport to Fishguard and return on 22nd April 2006, organised by the Railway Touring Company. KE0606 : 6024 is running at speed at Miskin towards Pontyclun and Bridgend on the outward trip. KE0607 : on the 1 in 50 bank immediately after leaving Fishguard Harbour. 6024 struggled to reach the summit of the 2 mile climb. KE0608 : the outward and return routes were via the ‘Swansea District’ line which avoids the main part of Swansea the train is seen here crossing the viaduct over the Lougher River on the District line. |
