THE PEMBROKE COAST EXPRESS

Making its second trip into West Wales in a month, ex-GWR 4-6-0 6024 ‘King Edward I’ ran from Newport to Fishguard and return on 22nd April 2006, organised by the Railway Touring Company.

KE0606 : 6024 is running at speed at Miskin towards Pontyclun and Bridgend on the outward trip.

KE0607 : on the 1 in 50 bank immediately after leaving Fishguard Harbour. 6024 struggled to reach the summit of the 2 mile climb.

KE0608 : the outward and return routes were via the ‘Swansea District’ line which avoids the main part of Swansea – the train is seen here crossing the viaduct over the Lougher River on the District line.
