THE STRONG COUNTRYMAN

Past Time Rail organised this mid-week trip on 12th April 2006 from Salisbury to Weymouth, outward via Yeovil (where the locomotives turned) and return via Bournemouth, using ex-LMS 4-6-0 45407 + ex-BR 2-6-0 76079.

5MT8 : the train approaches Buckhorn Weston Tunnel on the outward run from Salisbury to Yeovil.

5MT9 : having turned at Yeovil ready for the main part of the return journey from Weymouth (where there are no longer any turning facilities), the locos are running tender first on the climb to Evershott Tunnel on the way from Yeovil to Weymouth.
